A rental can have working internet and still have coverage gaps.

The issue is often location-specific: entry doors, patios, thermostat walls, garage areas, or back bedrooms.

Test where devices live

Do not judge coverage from the room with the router. Check signal behavior where the lock, thermostat, doorbell, cameras, and guest work areas actually sit.

Watch for patchwork networks

Mixed extenders, old routers, and overlapping mesh systems can make support harder. A simpler supported network is easier to document and maintain.

Separate internet speed from coverage

A fast plan does not fix a weak signal at the door or thermostat. Coverage and placement need their own check.
